Easter is almost here! So incredibly excited! This will be the One Year anniversary of EM joining The Church, and our first year celebrating Easter in our new home. This will be the first year we are not spending it with our extended families and I’m semi really excited. I love our families, but being able to start our own traditions is something I find to be incredibly special! This is the first year I am going all out on the littles baskets and I couldn’t be more excited!
If you follow me on instagram (if you don’t remedy that!) you will already have seen that I would’ve posted this sooner, except the memory card I had used to take all of my pictures with decided to die. Oh and did I mention that our honeymoon pics were on the same one? Yep, cause they were! I’m trying not to think about that right now. Yet if you happen to be a SD card wiz…hit me up!
Annnnyyyyhooo – without further ado, and without further pity party complaint – the boys Easter baskets!
Since my boys are only a week shy of 18 months apart, they like to act like twins. We need to get them the same of EVER-Y-THING, or it’s a full on battle for who has the better whatever it is we bought them. So they have matching clothes, matching toys, matching urthang! So it seemed like the only possible course of action was to have matching Easter baskets!
The Basket: Y’all know how I love supporting smaller brands, American made brands, or brands that give back. Well these Apolis lunch bags are one of them! This is from the Apolis website “Your Purchase Helps Break a Poverty Cycle: The female artisans who handcraft your bag receive Fair Trade wages, annual profit dividends, and a retirement fund” – um yes please! As the wife of a financial advisor I know how important this is. You can read more about this amazing brand here.
When looking for the perfect “basket” I wanted to make sure it was something the kiddos could use over and over. These lunch bags are it. While it’s certainly far larger than any child size lunch bag – I’ve decided to repurpose it as a personal beach bag for each of them. I got their name put on (which Apolis allows you to customize!) and will fill them with their new Poncho + Parker ponchos, their own beach toys (because Lord knows they fight to the death over those), snacks, and their own little bottle of sunscreen. How great is that?! They love carrying their own things, it makes them feel independent, and it is a great way for them to learn how to take care of their own things. Bonus – is that these lunch bags are lined on the inside for easy cleaning, just wipe, and the handles are leather, so SUPER sturdy!
(use code Custombag79 for free USA ground shipping – good for 24 hours from today 3.21 – so go snag a bag!!)
The Goods: As I mentioned above, the boys will be getting new Poncho+Parker ponchos this year! They LOVED the ones they got last year and wouldn’t take them off! Even wearing them around the house! But time flies and these boys have grown! How adorable is this periwinkle blue stripe? Another amazing small mom owned brand! The ponchos are made out of Turkish towels which we absolutely love! If you haven’t tried a Turkish towel before, then well, you need to. They are soft, lightweight, and dry SUPER fast! Perfect for beach or pool days! (use code SPRINGSALE for 40% OFF the collection!!!)
Next both boys got new “cowboy” hats, at least that is what Sebastian calls them. Tiny Trucker Co. is one of my favorite brands! Small brand, started by a mom. But oh wait – every employee is a mom! How cool is that?! Moms that want to stay home but still provide for their families! Can I love that any more?! The hats are of the best quality, and sport the cutest sayings! Surfer and Happy Campers are what the boys will be rocking this summer – along with the VA Kid ones they already have!
Each summer we like to get the kids new sandals, and we like to make sure they’re a brand that holds up to a LOT of wear! Freshly Picked released their new sandals and I about died! They’re so stinking cute! Also theyre “dressy” enough to be worn to Church, but can also we worn to the beach and look extra cute! The boys (of course) got matching Malibu Sandal’s in Maritime. Honestly though, it was hard to choose which style and color I wanted, if I had my druthers I’d have one of each! And once again – Freshly Picked is a brand started by a …mom! Do y’all notice a pattern?! Because it might continue!
Easter is about the Resurrection of Our Lord, which is why we like going to midnight mass – keep the focus on the real reason we celebrate. However, for a little one the Easter bunny is still exciting so I wanted to make sure I included a bunny of their own. We love Cuddle + Kind, another brand that does a whole lot of good! With each purchase of a hand-knit doll, they provide 10 meals to kids in need! They’ve currently provided 3,742,968 meals! How incredible is that! As a mom, the thought of not being able to provide a meal to my little ones is heart wrenching – yet that is sadly a reality many face. So many of us are fortunate enough to be able to buy our kids nice toys, so why not go above and beyond that kind gesture towards our own little ones, and extend it to those in need? I’m so excited for the boys to meet their new Benedict Bunny! You can read more about the amazing husband and wife team here. And fun fact – they too have 3 little ones!
Being as Easter is a religious holiday, I wanted to include something faith based in their baskets. I couldn’t think of anything better than a custom Patron Saint peg doll from my friend’s shop Emmaus Road. Kristina is a mom of two little boys, and an amazing artist! Her peg dolls are so incredibly beautiful! I am so excited to see the boys faces when they see their saints! St. Sebastian has become more mainstream, but St. Theodore is far less known. What’s cool about Emmaus Road, is that with every peg doll you receive a little card that tells you about the saint! Such a fun way for the kids to learn about their patron as well! Cool fun fact – if you’re like me and want ALL OF THE PEGS – Kristina now offers monthly subscriptions! 2 Saints delivered to you for however many months you subscribe for! Yes please! This next mom owned shop (I told you I love shopping small and mom owned!) I found through a friend, and have fallen in love! PennyLus Boutique is seriously the cutest! Adorable graphic tees for tots, I melted when I saw the “Here Comes the Sun” print! Easter is about the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and I just love how this is a beautiful play on words. Christ is The Son, who came to take away our sins. So perfect for their Easter baskets!
Last but not least, what Easter basket is complete without bubbles?! Actually this was a last minute add on when I saw Theo grabbing for them at Michaels. I try to stay away from candy and chocolate, so this was the perfect fun alternative! Or so I’m telling myself!
Now on to Evelyn’s basket! This, like her brother’s baskets, was so much fun to make! Mostly because I finally get to get pink things, but I also had to add some girly touches! She got a custom Apolis lunch bag, a Poncho + Parker poncho (except she got the peony pink of course!), a Tiny Trucker Co. hat, Freshly Picked sandals – hers are the Laguna in platinum, a Cuddle + Kind Chloe the bunny bunny doll, a PennyLus Boutique “Here Comes the Sun” onesie, an Our Lady of Sorrows peg doll from Emmaus Road – Our Lady of Sorrows has been a patron to all the women in my mom’s side of the family and I thought it only fitting for Evelyn to start learning about her at an early age – and she too got bubbles!
What Evelyn got that the boys didn’t get were these adorable Zoey Elephant spring floral bows! I’m completely obsessed! If I could get away with wearing them – I think I might…
Zoey Elephant is another amazing small, mom owned brand. I really seem to have a knack for finding them! But y’all – small businesses really create some of the most amazing pieces. The time and care taken with each individual bow is evident when you see the amazing quality! The shop is currently closed for a family vacation but she opens back up April 1st (Easter Sunday!) So be sure to check them out!
Then the next, is not a mom owned business (yet) but a new brand that is creating some of the most beautiful swaddles I’ve ever seen. As many of you know, I’m a bit of a swaddle hoarder – I lost track of how many we have – but when I heard that Erica Tighe of Be A Heart was starting a swaddle brand I knew I had to have it! I mean…Evelyn had to have it. Agnes Lucille is perfection. Named after Erica’s two grandmother’s, you can feel the love behind their creation. The Emma Swaddle is white, blush, and ochre, made of 50% organic cotton and 50% bamboo! It is so incredibly soft! I can’t wait to wrap Evvy in it – though for now Chloe will have to take one for the team!
I can’t tell you how excited I am to set these out for the littles to find on Easter morning. I know the look on their face will be one of sheer joy!
What are you adding to your little one’s baskets this year?
