Praying as a family is something we strive to do daily. It’s a way for our boys to grow in their faith.
Often times we as adults get overwhelmed with trying to do too much. Pray for an hour, do this devotional, do that novena – that we forget, that while faith is tried and tested in the big moments, it is cultivated in the small ones.
Now that S is in school he has added saying Grace to his repertoire of daily prayers. However, he got so excited that he wanted to say it – at all times. Which is amazing and I’m sure God is looking down on him smiling.
His enthusiasm in wanting to pray it even before bed, reminded me that for a child (as it is for adults), verbal recitation of prayer, is a simple yet powerful way to connect with Our Lord. I thought, why not create our own family bedtime prayer. Something simple and sweet, that reminds them of two very important things.
1) God is always watching over us, and 2) that His love never ends!
So here is what I came up with!
Thank you Jesus for this day,
in my heart You’ll always stay.
From up above I’m in Your sight,
loving me all day and night.
Amen.
It is no Our Father or Hail Mary but it is one Bastian is excited to say each night! And what more could a mama want?
We move in two weeks, and I know this will be one of the first things I hang on the boys room wall. What do y’all do with your kids to help cultivate faith through small moments? Comment below!
