As fall starts to make its appearance, the last warm days are few and far between (not that I mind). But before it’s full on apple picking and hot cider – we decided to head out to our favorite local farm and pick some sunflowers.
Just a quick 10-15 minute drive from the beach and you’re surrounded by fields of corn as far as the eye can see. With our carriers in tow we headed out on the weekends adventure. A sort of last hurrah before the summer was officially over.
Seeing the boys venture off into the jungle of flowers was a sight to see. They have been obsessed with “Going on a Bear Hunt” and they loved going through the tall “grass”, because they’re “not scared”. After all it was a “beautiful day.” Can you tell S has made us repeat that .. over. And over. And over?
While Theo picked the most perfect flower – the excitement of the blooms quickly faded when they saw the massive sand pit. A little boys dream. Trucks and tractors galore!
Cuddling E from the shade as she napped in the LILLE Baby Ring Sling, I once again realized how blessed we are to have these moments. So often it can feel overwhelming, having 3 so close together. As though we are out numbered – oh wait… but holding my sweet babe close, as her brothers played, exploring the world around them, I realized the chaos is what makes life beautiful. You just need a few tricks to help you along the way.
Trick number 1: Babywearing! Why you might ask? Because it allows you to have your hands free and your little ones corralled.
I don’t know about y’all but this mama doesn’t like chasing a cranky toddler into a field and playing where did my child go. So if you’re gonna fuss, up you go bro!
EM loves the LILLE Baby Complete Embossed Luxe Carrier! It’s so comfortable and so easy to use! The support it gives the wearer is incredible! It makes wearing a chunky almost 2 year old (pause as I sob) enjoyable! Boy is HEAVY! But pop him in the LILLE Baby and his weight is so perfectly distributed that you hardly even notice! And bonus – it’s a 6 and 1 carrier, so you can wear the tiniest peanut like Evelyn, to the biggest chunkster like T. Tip number 2: Bribery! Yeah I said it. Don’t seem so surprised! Climb down from that high horse sanctimony and embrace it! When your kids are acting a fool – a little “motivation” (is that a better word?) goes a long way!
All the way down those sweet cheeks and sticky fingers! While it can occasionally be for good behavior – sometimes getting an ice cream as big as your face is just because you need to live a little. Get messy, and enjoy the simple things. Like a fresh homemade peach ice cream.
The expression of pure joy on these boys faces was worth all of the extra napkins. The sticky kisses weren’t so bad either.
Before leaving we made sure to check out the farms amazing stand and take advantage of their porta-potty. Potty training life. But that’s a tale for another time.
Getting out of the house when you have 3 little ones can seem…well like an epic battle. Not losing the rest of your sanity while at your destination, a sheer miracle. But with a little babywearing and … motivation, you can conquer even the biggest mountain – or sunflower field. Whichever you stumble upon first!
For anyone interested in your own sanity saving carrier – $10 OFF $95 or more!
