After 27 hours of labor our sweet little Evelyn Rose Pia was born! 7 lbs 10 ounces, 20 1/4 inches of perfection.
For those that follow me on instagram (which if you’re not, you should be), you remember the horribly long and boring ordeal that was my labor.
After 23 hours, high levels of pitocin, a pitocin break to eat, another round of high levels of pitocin, and only progressing by 2 cm, my doctor saw that I had a second bag of water that was causing me to stall out. So after that was broken, this “I’m going to go med free this time” mama, decided it was EPI TIME! I hadn’t slept in what seemed like an eternity, and I was still only 4 cm. So mama needed a NAP!
Y’all let me tell you how amazing that nap was. Those 4 hours of sleep + plus a peanut ball = Evelyn was ready to come out! 27 hours in and she was already crowning when my doctor checked me.
After the heartbreak of two losses, and one push, our sweet rainbow was in our arms!
Something I always fear when pregnant, is…can I love this new baby as much as my others? Y’all – the heart MULTIPLIES! It was love at first sight!
The boys are in love with their sister! They won’t stop covering her with all sorts of love and kisses. Sebastian’s favorite thing to say is “mom, I wub Edewyn Ro, soooo much!” Yep, this mama’s heart melts each time he says it! Then Theo is on constant paci patrol; making sure she is never without. I couldn’t ask for a better sibling bond for my littles!
However, it’s been all but smooth sailing since we’ve been home – this sweet babe lost more weight than we anticipated so now we are on a non stop nurse train! Nurse and pump, pump and nurse! But at our most recent weight check this sweet little lady gained! Onward and upward for this peanut! “Though she be but little she is fierce”. I think that is this little lady’s new motto. (You can get these adorable swaddles from Dolly Llama Kids!)
I must say, nursing this much has helped me lose some of that baby weight. While I’m still wearing my maternity clothes, like this adorable maxi from Pink Blush, I’m starting to feel more “normal”. At the end of pregnancy I start to feel more whale-esq, so cute clothes help brighten my mood! Not to mention, this dress is incredibly soft, and rather forgiving on this postpartum mom bod!
It’s always an adjustment bringing home a new little – but this switch to a family of five, while not the easiest, couldn’t be more perfect!
